Club Profile

Manchester Cross-Country Ski Club (MCCSC) was founded in January 1984 in Altrincham as a focus for people with an interest in cross-country skiing.

MCCSC is now a multidiscipline Nordic club for Cross‑Country, Roller and Telemark Skiers in and around Manchester and Preston, UK. Join in the fun with fellow free‑heelers in the North West of England and develop with free coaching for members (except the North West Telemark Festival).

MCCSC is proud of the strength and depth of its coaches and being one of the largest Cross‑Country club and the largest civilian Telemark club in England. Our common aim is to share and enjoy free‑heel skiing, bringing like-minded people together to ski, whether it be on a cycle track, road, indoor ski slope or the mountains.

Membership now covers a wide area of the North-West. MCCSC provides a range of activities including:
  - Roller ski courses on a purpose built cycle track (UCLan Sports Arena, Preston)
  - Roller ski tours
  - Roller ski racing
  - Telemark instruction (Chill Factore, Manchester)
  - Telemark racing (Chill Factore, Manchester)
  - Coaching Award Scheme to become an Instructor or Coach, in Roller, Cross-Country & Telemark skiing

Additionally the club has members who also take part in snow based cross-country ski activities abroad such as recreational and race skiing on prepared tracks, biathlon, telemark downhill skiing and hut to hut touring. Some members also take advantage of UK snow to explore Britain’s hills on skis.

MCCSC caters for a considerable variety of skiing skills and ability and welcomes beginners* and experienced skiers alike.

*Note that introduction to Telemark requires previous Alpine skiing experience.
